“Waylon, are you ever sorry you became Burns' assistant?”

I'm...

Always sorry –
He dashes my hopes one by one,
His fickle anger confounds
And readies me to run
When he releases the hounds.

Always grateful –
And then he'll smile
And he's the only thing to exist
And he'll ask me to stay awhile
And his eyes are impossible to resist.

Regretful –
He looks at me askance,
Sees me as his pawn.
I think of each lost chance,
Good men I've passed on.

Happy –
I hold him on the Ferris wheel;
I flirt and he winks.
I fix him his meal;
He asks me out for drinks.

Sorry –
He still hasn't a clue;
He drives me half-crazy.
On our bicycle built for two,
He's my daisy, daisy.

Grateful –
He fills me with vim;
He touches my hand;
He asks me to hold him;
It's more than I can stand.

Enraptured joy fills me to the brim
Which has nothing to do with,
All to do with him.
Inspired by the song from the musical Company, this is Waylon Smithers describing his complicated relationship to his boss.
